One of MyMan’s co-workers came to the Rotterdam headquarters on business in March. While she was here, we were able to pry her away from work for a day, and we went to Amsterdam to enjoy some of the sites.
We visited the Van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum. MyMan and I have been to both of these before, but they are so lovely, it’s always nice to visit them again. This time we were able to see some things in the Rijksmuseum that we didn’t have time to see previously, so that was a plus!
There was a gorgeous library where people were studying and reading, so silence was in order.
We enjoyed lunch at a local pub where the guy sitting at the table next to us rolled a joint. I was not able to get a picture of that. Puff, puff, pass….. anyone???
Let us not forget the enormous number of bicycles….everywhere!!
We decided to go on a canal cruise. By doing these activities, we managed to hit 3 of the top 5 things to do in Amsterdam! Woot Woot!
I love looking at the different styles of houses, and the architecture of them.
If you look at the top gables of the houses and buildings, you will see a pulley system. This is how they get furniture and large items up to the top floors because their stair cases are so steep and winding. You can see the rope that is hanging from the middle house in this picture –
And I love that they use all types of transportation here – trains, buses, boats, bikes, cars, electric cars, and feet. You can see boats, a house boat, regular cars and an electric car in this one picture.
Speaking of house boats – the canals are full of them! All shapes and sizes and styles.
Because it was a sunny day out, there were lots of people sitting outside enjoying the day!
Beautiful buildings!
And, finally….the gratuitous selfie!
